Canadian University Rankings

These are customary months, not guaranteed publication dates. Edition labels can differ from the calendar year of release. Check the publisher for announcements and later corrections.

Maclean’s 2027 uses the new Large, Mid-Size and Small categories, with changes to university groupings. Each historical rank retains its edition and category; ranks across the changed categories are not presented as gains or losses. The 2027 ranks were checked against the publisher’s page text on October 14, 2026.

The 2027 lists contain 56 universities: 15 Large, 19 Mid-Size and 22 Small. Universities have been regrouped; this is not a direct renaming of Medical Doctoral, Comprehensive and Primarily Undergraduate. Existing category URLs are retained for incoming links; their content follows the 2027 groups.

Historical cells identify the actual edition and category. Ranks across changed groups are not presented as gains or losses. * or = indicates a tie, and original ranges are retained. — means a verified rank has not been compiled here, not that the university was unranked; -- retains the historical Primarily Undergraduate not-listed marker.

Existing QS 2027, THE 2027 and ARWU 2026 data are retained; ARWU 2026 is not a new 2027 ranking. Apart from the checked Maclean’s 2027 and previously checked Primarily Undergraduate 2022–2026 data, older records retain their original verification limitations. Maclean’s is a Canadian category ranking; the other three are world rankings using different methods. UQAM is not interchangeable with the Université du Québec system.
